From Diglis Juntion on the River Severn through Worcester to the heart of Birmingham the canal rises through 58 locks in a little over 30 miles. 30 of the locks are in the 2 mile long Tardebigge flight with a long lock free pound stretching from the top of the flight at Tardebigge Wharf all the way 14miles to Birmingham and then a further 14 miles on the BCN to the top of the Wolverhampton flight marketing a single 28 mile lock free pound. he canal has junctions at Hanbury giving access to the recently restored Droitwich Canals and at Kings Norton where it conects with the North end of the Stratford Canal
