The planning for 2016 is starting to come together and it is looking like there will be two 6 week trips both starting and ending at Fenny Marina, which will help to keep the costs down as there will be no need to pay for additional moorings.

The Last 4 weeks for this year from the enforced summer mooring in Rufford (see the News page) to the new permanent mooring in Fenny Marina. The route takes us from Rufford on to the Leeds and Liverpool main line and then the Bridgewater canal including Barton Swing Aquaduct to Runcorn and then Preston Brook to join the Trent and Mersey. South on the Trent and Mersey through Middlewich and the paired Cheshire locks through Harecastle Tunnel to Stoke on Trent. At Stoke a detour on the Caldan Canal to Leek and Froghall returning to Stoke to continue South. From Stoke south through Stone and Great Haywood to join the Coventry canal through Tamworth Nuneaton and if time permits in to Coventry basin. From Coventry we join the Oxford Canal at Hawkesbury and then continue South through Rugby to the spiritual heart of the English canals at Braunston where we join the Grand Union main line to Napton and back on to the narrow Oxford Canal (south) to Fenny Compton and the new permanent moorings

The dates for the Ribble Link have now been published and in consultation with our friends on NB Talyllyn we have decided to plan for a northbound passage on 3rd June with a backup of 2nd June. This means Talyllyn will be leaving Market Drayton earlier than planned and will be moored in the Anderton area for a while. So the plan is now to meet up with them between Anderton and Preston Brook and travel up to Preston together.

Northward jouney now replaned via the Shropshire Union as this is shorter and not duplicated on the return.
