Well, after 3 years in the North East and North where seeing more than three boats was a busy day it's quite a shock to the system to be back on the Grand Union.

Watford Flight

First the hour and a half hour wait at Watford locks while three boats come up the flight, then the 10 Boats queuing at the bottom of the flight. Once we reached Norton junction and join the GU main line then it's a continuous procession of boats, including passing no less than three in Braunston tunnel.

moored boats

Having passed our planned mooring at the Lord Nelson (Braunston lock no 3) we decided to moor on the bank between Braunston Turn and Napton only to discover an almost long line of boats moored a few lengths apart. Eventually we find a bit of bank spare near Flecknoe.

Tommorrow another day with not too many miles but 11 locks to the Blue Lias or 13 locks to Cuttle. With the forcast being rain for the afternoon will try for an early start, early finish.
