from Tarleton we lock out on to the tidal River Douglas for a 4 mile run against the incoming flood tide. The Douglas opens up in to the River Ribble and we reach the junction at around slack water so make good progress (6.5mph over the ground) upstream 3.5 miles to the entrance of the Savick Brook and the start of the Millenium Ribble link to the Lancaster Canal. After waiting for the final two boats to arrive we set off up the link in pairs working the 5 double locks before reversing in to the Staircase lock for the final climb to the Lancaster canal level. A couple of miles brings us to our overnight mooring at Salwick Bridge.
