Over the last few weekends we have been working on the various jobs needed before departure, and we have made some good progress.

The toilet/shower room is almost complete, and progress on some of the other items is picking up.

  1. Removed the all rotting side hatch panels in preparation for new replacements. Cleaned out the rust and pained the inside of the side hatch steel doors. The decorated panels from the old doors have been salvaged and will be turned in to decorative wall plaques.
  2. fitted the remaining solar panels and solar controller. Unfortunately I could not get this to work properly, and suspect this is down to an incorrectly made cable termination on one of my cables.

After another couple of days this weekend I feel I am finally making progress.  The light at the end of the tunnel IS daylight.

So far this weekend I have completed

  1. Dismantled the dining table and used one leaf to make a folding desk/dining table in the main cabin. The curved leaf has been earmarked for a fold up table in the cratch.
  2. Diagnosed the issue with Solar system not working as the solar charge controller, which is now back with the supplier to check and repair/replace.
  3. Fiitted the radiator in the bathroom and completed the trim on the pipes, secured the vent pipe to the wall and sealed all the joints. Added a tap an the urine pipe to make removing the tank for emptying less "messy". Replaced the "wet room" halogen light above the shower with LED. The halogen light never fitted properly as there was insufficient headroom in the ceiling lining.

  4. IMG 20150418 141435IMG 20150418 141516boxed in the gunnel over the end of the cross bed in the rear cabin, added a reading light and replaced the tired 20year old cushions with new memory foam 5" pads custom designed for the bed. This gives a couple of inches extra width and is much more comfortable. Be warned Ginger thinks he has found nivarna so there may be a fight ;) the rear cabin has had a major tidy up and clean so no more hoovers or battery watering bottles clogging the place up. A place for everything and everything in its place ;)

  5. IMG 20150418 160612Added "rope guards" to the front of the solar panels to stop the centre rope getting snagged, or pulling the panels off.

  6. Added a clamp to the TV Ariel pole to deal with the long standing annoyance of the Ariel moving and the TV signal breaking up.
  7. cleared up and sorted scrap wood from good, storing the good and putting the scrap on the roof read for a good bankside fire.

With that lot completed the remaining list starts to look achievable

  1. Towel ring and toilet roll holder, door knob and hooks to fit in the bathroom. If time permits box in top of calorifirer With perforated board to form an airing cupboard.
  2. refit repaired/replaced solar controller and test.
  3. Apply name transfers and decoration to bow panels (required to meet license conditions)
  4. Rewire engine fan to use ignition circuit (currently only comes on when electric motor gets hot) to improve engine bay cooling.
  5. Build up replacement side hatch panels ready for varnish and decoration. Varnish, decorate and then refit.
  6. wash and polish boat.  Can be done after departure if we are stuck.

so nothing major left that will stop us departing to plan.
