L&L Parbold to Pennington Flash 27th September 2015
After walking the dog and a light breakfast we got underway at around 10:45 and arrived at the first lock, Appley just before 11:00 where I was assisted through by another boat crew that had arrived as I was setting the lock. After Appley Bridge I was on my own for the swing bridge and remain locks although I did get assistance from crews going in the opposite direction at Dean and Wigan Top lock. From Wigan descending through the Poolstock locks to the start of the level pound all the way to Runcorn - no more locks until Thursday. After negotiating the busy lift bridge at Plank lane we moored for the night overlooking Pennington Flash.
This leaves a nice short 2hr 30min day to Worsley tomorrow.
Bow Cam Hands Lane Bridge to Wigan below.
L&L Rufford to Parbold 26th September 2015
I arrived back at the boat on Friday evening having driven up from Reading, after doing the few chores like filling the water tank settled down for a quiet night in front of the telly.
Saturday morning an early start to walk the dog and return the Hire car to Liverpool with train back to Rufford before putting 100L of diesel in the tank and starting off up the Rufford flight. The locks and swing bridges were all manned making life much easier for single handing, and as a voat had arrived at the bottomof lock 7 as I was ascending I waited at lock 6 and we did the remainder of the flight together.
The bow cam starts at Lock 6 to Parbold where I had intended to moor for the night, but after walking the dog and settling down for the evening a broadbeam boat turned up with a sound system on the roof, and although it was an excellent sound system playing Queen hits it was not what i had planned for the night so I pulled the mooring pins and carried on about a mile to a rural mooring near Hands Lane Bridge.

Rufford Link update 18th Sept 2015
The news from C&RT is looking good, with most of the work on site now complete and preperations being made to rewater the canal to check for leaks.
I spoke to the C&RT office in Wigan earlier this week and they are in the process of arranging the passages up and down the 7 Rufford branch locks, commencing on the Friday 25th September. As I have a fairly long distance to go they are proiritising my passage and I should be on the move Saturday afternoon at latest.
