Lancaster Canal Leak.

On 22nd June a Stoppage notice was received saying that there was a leak just north of Lancaster adjacent to the Lune aquaduct. Today after draining the canal and inspecting it C&RT have said they will need 5 weeks to repair the probletm and they expect the canal to remain closed until the end of July.  Unfortunatly this means that we are unlikely to be able to complete the stretch between Lancaster and Tewitfield in the boat as our return passage over the ribble is booked for the 20th July. As an alternative I will look at exploring the northern section in the car or by rail.

Full details on the C&RT site https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notice/3767/lune-aqueduct-lancaster-canal or https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/media/library/10945-lune-embankment-stoppage-update-26-june-2015.pdf

As as we are south of the problem, and have the Ribble link booked this problem is not expected to affect the subsequent weeks plans.
